Project: NP Siege II
|
 |
|
Project: NP Siege II is Starmen.Net's second campaign to be noticed
in the popular Nintendo Power magazine. For those who don't remember,
the first NP Siege was held in early 2000, and was meant to get
EarthBound 64 higher up on the Most Wanted List. Unfortunately EB64
got pushed down the list by newer, more mainstream games instead.
This time, our goal is different. Essentially, we are trying to get
letters and/or envelope art printed in Nintendo Power. Why? Just
because it would be cool. And also to show everybody else that
EarthBound is still alive and kicking. We've already been mentioned
twice in EGM and once in Tips and Tricks - why not try for NP too?
Occasionally EarthBound envelope art gets printed, even years after
the game's release. Here are some examples of printed envelopes:

Plan of Attack:
|
 |
|
The key to NP Siege II is that all the letters and envelope art will
be sent all at once, for impact. To do this, we will have all
participants send the letters and envelopes to Starmen.Net's
snail mail address, and then on February 15th we will send them all
at once to Nintendo.
If you are interested in participating, this is what you will need to
do:
- First, write a letter that you want printed in Nintendo Power.
Make sure it's not too long - they don't seem to print especially
long letters.
- In your letter, make sure you say you're from Starmen.Net, and
talk about EarthBound-related stuff.
- Draw EarthBound stuff on an envelope (make room for the stamps when you draw) and address it to:
Nintendo Power Player's Pulse
P.O. Box 97033
Redmond, WA 98073-9733
If you want to put your return address on it, put it on the
back of the envelope, unless you don't care if people see your
address (see why below).
- Stick your letter to Nintendo in the decorated envelope and seal it up. Put a stamp on there.
Remember, postage is 34 (THIRTY FOUR!) cents now, not 33 or 32! You may have to stick two stamps on the envelope.
- Grab a second envelope and a piece of paper. Write down your name and e-mail address
(and a quick note for us to read if you want) on the piece of paper.
Stick that piece of paper and the letter to Nintendo in the second envelope.
- Stick another postage stamp on that envelope too. Once again, the US postage rate is
now 34 (THIRTY FOUR!) cents! You may have to put two 33 cent stamps on to get it sent.
- Seal it all up and send it to:
Starmen.Net
P.O. Box 4002
Kokomo, IN 46904-4002
NOTE: If you live in a country other than the US, your letter may
take anywhere from 1-2 weeks to reach us. Please keep this in mind if you plan
on entering the contest, as the deadline is February 15. Also, Starmen.Net will
take care of putting US Postage on your letter to Nintendo, so don't worry about
that.

Contest & Prizes:
|
 |
|
While this is one of Starmen.Net's wacky campaigns, it's also a
Starmen.Net contest. Each envelope we receive will be scanned and
put on the site for all to see. (If you're going to put a return
address on it, put it on the back, because we will only scan the front.
See disclaimer below.)
On February 15, 2001, when we send all the envelopes and letters, we will also
choose the three best envelopes as winners. Each winner will receive
a free, high-quality, limited-edition
Starmen.Net mugz0r! Just for drawing
stuff on an envelope! It's that simple! We're practically giving them away!
Actually, we are! Craaaaaazy!!!
If your letter and/or envelope gets posted in Nintendo Power, you will
also receive a free Starmen.Net mug and a copy of that issue of
Nintendo Power (if you don't have it).
So what are you waiting for? Get started now!
